Detox Protocols on Salt Spring Island
Support the systems that clear what's building up.
Your body already detoxifies around the clock through the liver, kidneys, gut, lymph, and sweat. A detox protocol is what I build when that system is overwhelmed by a real, measurable load, most often heavy metals, mold-derived mycotoxins, or long-term chemical exposure. It is a clinical process guided by testing, not a cleanse or a supplement bundle.
Detoxification is a process, not a destination. We live in a chemical environment that keeps reintroducing the load: microplastics now turn up in human blood and placental tissue, endocrine-disrupting compounds leach from food packaging and personal care products, and PFAS 'forever chemicals' are detectable in the blood of nearly every person the US CDC has tested. That constant re-burdening is the real reason most detoxes sold online fall flat. They come with no diagnosis behind them, no parameters for who should actually do one, no measurement of whether anything changed, and no defined endpoint. The protocols I build are the opposite: a specific reason to start, clear targets, retesting to confirm progress, and a plan for staying ahead of ongoing exposure once the acute burden is cleared.
Detoxification, or biotransformation, happens in two linked phases in the liver, then relies on the gut, kidneys, bile, and sweat to carry the end products out. When any of those pathways is blocked, or when the incoming load is too high, intermediates can accumulate and drive fatigue, brain fog, headaches, and sensitivity reactions. The US Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry documents clear neurological and immune effects from chronic exposure to metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium, which is why a protocol always starts by confirming the burden with lab work rather than assuming it.
A protocol follows a set order. First, identify and remove the ongoing exposure, whether that is a water source, an amalgam, a workplace, or a water-damaged building. Next, make sure the exit routes are open: regular bowel movements, adequate hydration, bile flow, and often sauna. Only then do I add the agents that do the work, targeted nutrients that support phase I and II liver enzymes and glutathione, binders such as activated charcoal or, for mycotoxin illness, prescription cholestyramine, and where appropriate IV therapy to deliver glutathione and minerals directly. Research on mold illness, including the work of Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, shows that binder-based protocols paired with exposure removal produce measurable symptom and biomarker improvement.
Pacing matters more than intensity. Mobilizing stored toxins faster than the body can excrete them makes people worse, so I start low, monitor how you respond, and adjust. Alongside the protocol I use targeted supplementation to replace the minerals that chelation and binders deplete, and I retest at intervals so we are tracking real numbers, not just how you feel. Most protocols run in cycles over several months.
Why Detox Protocols
Testing-Led
Every protocol begins with confirmed evidence of a burden, so we are treating a measured problem, not a vague feeling of being toxic.
Pathways First
Drainage routes are opened before anything is mobilized, which is what prevents the crash that poorly run detoxes cause.
Replenished, Not Depleted
Binders and chelators strip minerals too, so mineral repletion and nutrient support are built into the plan from day one.

Laboratory Testing
Functional and conventional laboratory testing provides a deeper understanding of your health, from hormones and gut health to infections, heavy metals, mold exposure, nutrition, inflammation, and metabolic function. Testing gives me the objective data I need to build targeted treatment plans.
IV & Injection Therapy
IV therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system for maximum absorption and immediate therapeutic effect.
Targeted Supplementation
Not all supplements are created equal, and more isn't always better. I prescribe professional-grade supplements based on your lab work, health history, and specific deficiencies. The goal is precision: the right nutrients, in the right forms, at the right doses.
